Default Racing Question

Hey I have a racing question.. Well before I ask, I'd like to announce that i beat an `84 Z28 last night but im not sure if thats much of a feat.. not sure on the specs of those. Yea, Im a stock, slow 96 auto convertable GT (i should just crash my car off a cliff, i know) Well okay now for my question. Some kid i met the other night has a 1996 V6 Camaro.. The ones with uh.. i think its 200hp stock. Okay well hes Headers, No cats, muffler, and intake. Hes manual, im auto =( Well yea, im sure ill loose, i just wana get your guys input on it. Also does turning O/D off make much of a difference? I never usually do that but some people say i should do that when i race...

Hey, I'm also driving a stocker '96 gt, but mine's a 5 speed. Before i got it, I was driving a '96 camaro, with the V6 but it was an auto, and also stock. The V8 mustang smokes that thing no problem. I know it's not exactly the same scenario, but to give you an idea of what to expect. Those camaro's have like 200hp's stock but only 225ft/lb's of torque so they're a real dog until they're cranking about 4,000 rpm's. Not sure how much faster the V6 camaro would be with those mods done to it, but I bet you'll still beat him racing from a redlight or something because you'll pull away quicker off the line.

The 84 Camaro would rip a mid 16 pass at best.

Get a good launch and you should eat the 96 V6 for lunch.

Yea, those '84 z28 camaro's are 305's, carbureted too I think, don't even have the TPI. They're something rediculous like only 170hp and 240ft/lb's of torque. The '96 v6 is more of a threat than the '84 z28. But those later 80's/early 90's z28 camaro's will suprise you, they're a bit quicker, esspecially the 5.7 TPI's. And come '94 and newer z28's, well they have us beat hands down my friend, haha. Driving stocker '96 mustangs, we have to watch who we start trouble with, haha, but it's all fun none the less.

a buddy of mine had a '00 Maro (V6) automatic...and was runnin mid 16's all day... best run being a 16.2.... u should have it hands down man... i raced a 98 maro on the highway and i pulled on him pretty good... obviously a different scenario then say from a light... but still, just thought i would throw my 2 cents in haha
