Hi new member here considering purchasing an SN95 GT, need advice.
Hi all. Im currently driving a 1993 BMW 318is. It's a nice car and all, but pretty slow. I've had it for the past 3 years and would like something with a bit more power but dont have a whole lot of money right now as I work part time and go to college. I did find a 1998 5 spd GT on craigslist for $3600, and have had people offer me over 4k for my car, so I can definetly get it. Thing is, it has 177k miles. Is this too many? Will it likely give me problems and be a money pit? How long can SN95s last for? My BMW has 164k and has no real issues. Im wondering if its a bad idea to give up my car which I know to be reliable for something that Im not totally sure about.
Anyway Im going to check the Mustang out tomorrow, what should I look for as far as broken stuff or worn out parts? Should I take it to a dealer and have them check it out or will they not be able to tell me its condition without me paying them alot of money? Thanks

all cars are money pits, a car is worth to you what every you pay for it..... YOur not buying your car to sell it so doesn't matter... and 177K is a little high but whats the condish? Regular servicing? Little old lady driver that just went to church and back? ( ok maybe her church was on the opposite coast) Anyway my point, we can say yeah its too much or nah it's fine but it all comes back to you

im sure you could find one with alot less miles for 4k if the milage is really bothering you that much, in any case take it to a mechanic and have him check it out.
if you in it strictly for performance, try to get a 99-04 GT

Wait till you can afford a 1999 or newer mustang. Otherwise, you'll spend more money catching up to them in performance than you saved buying the older car. Just my opinion.

but after the money spent on the pi swap you will have done more than caught up. it will be ahead. my opinion is to try to find one with lower miles
