But spend that same $4,500 on a cobra and kiss everything on the road goodbye!

I've only spent about $1500 to get the #'s I have. Since then I have added the H-pipe and TB/Plenum which adds about another $700. I don't know how they will affect my current #'s though.

RE: comparison between gt and cobra
When it was all said and done, I think I paid ~$28,000. But my GT was paid for, so I had a pretty good down payment.
I'm not disputing what car is better, just saying how much I've spent already.[sm=smiley1.gif]
If you remember, I was all set to go that route with my GT, but it fell through. Now I'm kind of glad it did.
You buy a GT or Cobra because of what it is. People also buy it because it's easy to mod. But when you go rebuilding an entire car, the gloves are off.
You could practically take any old beater and make it run if you throw enough money at it.
Imagine a Cobra getting beat by a guy in a GT that says he only has $25k in the car vs. the Cobras $30k.
Then imagine a guy beating the both of them, and he says that he only has $18k in his car. Does it really matter?
Once you sink a certain amount in, I don't think it does.

I was under the impression that because the engines were modular they had the same blocks....and u dont really need to upgrade the brakes. All a cobra has over a GT is basically 4 valve heads, 6speed tranny, and forged internals w/ low comp ration right?... So you could pretty much just get a nice kb supercharger for ur gt and some forged internals and be right up there w/ the cobra's.

Cobra Advantages (03-04): Lighter aluminum block, Forged internals, upgraded brakes, upgraded suspension, IRS for track racing (bad for strip) better racing seats, supercharger, low compression, DOHC (HUGE UPGRADE)...every mod adds more power vs a SOHC), better intake system (twin blade t/b), 6-speed transmission... Hmmm.... All I can think of right now...
Cobra Disadvantages (99-01) Not forged, less hp, no supercharger, higher compression....
This arguing makes no sense... Buy a rolling fox body, spend $12k on a fully forged, blown 460 another $4k on a custom interior, another $10k on suspension, and $2k for misc crap....
For the price fo a new GT you absolutely OWN EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ANY TIME ANY PLACE.....
