So let me guess here, the gear ratio is the number ofwheel revolutions vs. the number of drive shaft revolutions for example one full rotation of the drive shaft is equal to 4.10 full rotations at the wheel for 4.10 gears??????

I thought it was the exact opposite? Hence why the top end decreases but acceleration increases with the taller the gear you go?

I went and bought a 12 bolt rear end and I can't remember how I measured the gear ratio but I turned the axles once and the small pinion turned 3 times or so? or do I have it completely backwards?

I would prefer 3;73's. From what i have read from Steeda that is what they recommend for quick snappy take off and all around driving.

I don't know.... i was asking. I was trying to break it down to kid speak for myself. On a bicycle with gears. The number of times you can rotate the peddle vs. how many times the wheel spins for each full rotation.

Actually I think it's for every 4.10 turns of the drive shaft the wheel turns one full time. We did this test on a buddy of mines 5.0

The definition of gear ration is Number of turns of the driving force : Number of turns of the follower
example... 4.10 turns of the driver (drive shaft) : 1 turn of the follower (rear wheels)

Makes sense.... sort of. Seems like you would get more torque off of taller gears though.
