Default car starting problem

for like 2 weeks now my car has had problems starting up. When i start it up it tries to then dies and pops a few times. The pop noises are loudest like where my lt headers meet my midpipe not so much in the engine. It usually takes like 3 times and i have to give it gas for it to fully start and run. every once in awhile it will start on its own or i have to push the pedal to the floor like 3 times and then start it and then it doesnt even always start the first time. i took it to a shop and a guy ran the diognostics test and the only other things than the o2 sensors cause the o/r h is my "cam comp sensors" or something like that i got those replaced and it started fine like 2 times and now back to the same thing. any idea what this could be and sorry for the long post just very frustrating to spend money on something and have it not do anything to fix it!?!

if a new camshaft position sensor(cps)didn't fix it then it's most likely the alternator that needs rebuilding/replacing. i think it's either the regulator or a diode in the alt. that goes bad and causes it to interfere with the signal from the cps, especialy since they are on the same harness, so have your mechanic check the alt.

First you will have to take off your air intake tube that connects to your thrott body (for easy access to a couple of the plugs). Disconnect the firing coil. Unscrew the firing coil (has only one screw). Pull the rubber firing coil out. Now you have this big gapping hole that leads to your spark plugs. You will need a 5/8 deep socket. I recommend you use a spark plug socket which has a rubber boot inside of it. You will be doing this sequence for all eight plugs......it is simple.
Look at the tips of the plugs. If they are black, heavily corroded, and look like ***....replace them. Also check the gaps with a feeler guage it should be between .052-.056 (got that info from the forum thanx forum). I would recommend not using the round feeler guage that looks like a huge silver dollar....it is not very accurate. That should be about it for the plug check.
