RE: Do these Heads look good to you? 56K Warning
The story behind this is that I got these heads installed on my 1999 Mustang recently, because I needed replacement heads due to blown spark plug (and damaged cylinder head as a result). The auto shop installed these, and when I got my car back it never ran the same. The car stalled a bunch, had engine misses, etc. The shop told me that this was happening because the replacement heads I provided were damaged. The mechanic responded "Did you take a look at these heads?" I didn't because I just had the parts delivered to the shop boxed up. Then he told me "cylinder #2 on heads was beat up all around valve."
Frankly, this pissed me off because 1) Why did they even install the heads if they had this damage, and not tell me about until all the work was done. and 2) The guy acted like a real jerk to me.
I took my car to another shop this Spring, and replaced the heads with Brand New Heads, and the car is up and running like new again. I did keep the used replacement heads that claimed to have damage, and neither myself or the mechanic at the new body shop see anything wrong with these heads. I think I got screwed, and they lied to me about the damage to the heads because they did a bad repair and couldnt' get the car to run right.
Let me know what you guys think. I can take more pics if it helps, which head would have cylinder #2? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. Reed44 I looked at the part of the head shown in pic2_4 and that is not a crack, just some grease/residue. I actually just took both these heads to a machine shop, and they didn't really notice anything upon inspection either. The guy there is going to do a vacuum test on the head in question and see if in fact there was anything wrong with that head. So I should know by later this evening.
Thanks again

Machine shop just called. Said the heads were fine and checked out good after the vacuum test. All valves seal good and they are in good working condition.
Guess, my next step is to file a complaint against the Auto Shop with the Better Business Bureau.
