What to look for when buying a 1999-2004 Mustang 4.6L GT
Howdy yall! I searched and couldn't find a post with this in it, and I am currently looking at a GT of that body style (not sure what year, wanted to find out everything I need to know before I talk to the guy about it, but it's that body style, the 99-04). It has 39,000 miles, and he wants a little over 14K for it, it sounds reasonable to be, if, a little too reasonable, I mean, the thing looks like brand new, and it has some Bullit GT style rims (I think that's what they are, it's like the Pony Heritage style rims, but they are black chrome with a chrome/stainless lip), and I mean, I really want it. But, I mean, if it's too good a deal, it's usuallu indicative of something fishy, ya know? All the body lines and the spacing on everything is perfectly straight and identical, and I was just posting this post to see if anyone had a complete check list of things to check specific to this body style 'stang (i.e., is there anything that goes bad on them quick and may need checked). Thanks for any input you can offer!

honestly the only thing i would do with this car since the miles are so low is do a carfax history report. if that checks out, then drive it. everything should work smoothly. the tranny in the mustangs always make a little noise so dont get discouraged. check to see if it has an aftermarket exhaust. look under the hood. check to see if there is anything that doesnt look stock.

$14k isn't that great of a steal for you to think it's a scam or something. If it were an 04 with 39k miles for like $10k I'd be a little skeptical.

Aight, thanks yall, you just took a lot of the worry off of my mind, I was gonna test drive it today (well, yesterday, Saturday, but I still haven't slept, so ;-) ), but I got back late from my Lacrosse game and the lot closed before I got there. I don't know, I mean, to me, 14k for a low miles GT was a good deal, I am gonna test drive ti sometime this week and, and let yall know if I buy it or not.

You could also take it to a reputable shop ,,and have them to a ? point inspection....we actaully rasie it up on the rack,,check the brakes,,look for damage(frame or floor)..checkas much as the customer wants and its 36.00 bucks....well worth it..........a carfax....ask for maintance records...
