Default 351W (408) in a new edge????

hey guys this might be a little off topic but i only post here, so if mods wanna move it go ahead. The question i have is for a friend of mine who just blew up his turbo sixer (piston and rod thru the oil pan = a big hole) and is now buying a built 351W and later on wants to stroke it out to a 408. The question he had was how would he get it to mount in his engine bay and whats all needed as far as engine mounts. Also since hes using a carb, what would he need to get to get it running? Im guessing an MSD box and stuff? Any help is appreciated

It should fit in the engine bay without any problems. It is dimensionally smaller than a 4.6 so fitment shouldn't be a problem. Probably some custom motor mounts (or maybe ones for a 94-95 GT)and with a carb setup ditch the computer OR fuel inject the 351 and get a wiring harness out of a 94-95 GT.

oooh 94-95 motor mount sounds really good. Now as far as i remember the motor hes getting already has a Holley 650 i believe, then id just have to get and MSD box? The fuel injection is also interesting but its gonna be up to him. Thanks man. Anyone else have any experience with that kind of stuff?

Screw the msd set up get yourself a ford converted hei distributor.

So lets just say if someone intended to swap out their front suspension anyways with aftermarket components a pushrod motor wouldn't be that bad of an idea? Especially in the money you'd save down the road being carbed aswell as the cam/heads/intake. I also see quite a few 351 and 460 swap kits floating around that supply motor mounts, longtubes and other crap that you'd need to get a motor like that into a fox chassis car. I mean its always easier to take the 2v and make killer power through a blower but hell.

wow thanks a lot for all ur responses guys! A lot of good infor right there. Im gonna print this out and let him read it, so if anyone else got anything else just let me know. Also Obituaries, where can he get the ford hei distributor setup at?

ih8chevy, i think thats the carb the motor has on it right but im not positive. Its a 351 right but if he strokes it out to a 408, what carb would u recommend?

02WhiteGTVert, u know i was thinking of moving it back or just taking it off....so maybe ill take it off for a little while and see how i like it i guess.

Again thanks for the good info there fellow mustang lovers!!
