the stock mustangs will run around 14.9-15,s depending on driver. dont beleive all that magazine bs. with good suspention mods it helps greatly and should be your first mods. after that start with bolt ons for the motor. ( upper and lower control arms, drag shocks, and sub frame conectors will help.) the mach one is more of a drag car and thats it. its not really designed for road racing. the suspention is losser and launches hard.

It's true, just drive a new car easy for 500 miles to give the tranny & rear some time to develop a wear pattern..and feel free to beat the **** out of it

My fathers best friend has a completely stock 2001 Mustang Cobra and has been to the track a few times. The best ET he could get was a 13.6 at 104 mph. That time was on drag slicks, 60 degree weather, and a good launch. I just don't see how any stock GT can run 13's. I know my 2000 GT never ran 13's stock no matter how hard I tried. Maybe I just can't drive it.

Matt, for some reason, everyone on this forum swears they can run 13's with their newer Gt's, so just go along with it.. I guess its possible to run a 13.9 or something like that if you race on the perfect day with some wind pushing you down the track! Thats how they look at it...

Hey Guys,

I had my 2003 GT to the track on Sunday (5spd) and my best run was14.40 at 98 MPH. Another guy there with an '02 5spd ran 14.375 at 99. We are both running stock with K&N air filters. He has cut down his air silncer, and I left mine alone.

That was the first time I've been to the track, and too bad because that was there last weekend before winter, but man is that fun!

Later!

the best i ran was 14.7 really bad conditions. but some guys and girls there where running in the 15's that night so i dont feel that bad. east coast cars ive been told tend to run faster because its typically cooler over there. so are those numbers from west or east coast. im on the west.

oh yeah its a 2003 gt coupe 5 speed. the only mods then where k&n with silencer and screen removed. cat back off and nitto drag radials(wich i think hurt me more out there with the terible track) when i go back next season i will be in the 12's if i can come up with the money i need.

just for fun and bench racing purposes go to www.prestage.com and go to car math, then et from hp and weight. it will give you base lines in a perfect world. also drop the weight a hundred pounds and see how much faster you get than adding little ten horse power increments from little mods wich when to the rear tires is only between 80-85% of that because its all percentages.
