mac verses steeda cai
i have the mac straight shot w85mm mass air on the car with a mail order tune were they change my air/fuel ratio for it. the tuner told me it should be close but to get it perfect to get a dyno tune. he also told me i might be better off getting a cold air kit that uses the factory masss air. so i bought the steeda. but my problem is i dynoed it at a car show the other day and out of 4 moded gts with close to the same mods i have i had alittle more. I pulled 260hp, the others pulled 245, 250, 230. this is with the mac. so i was wondering if i should leave it on and sell the steeda its still in the box. Im planning on doing stage 2 cams later with a dyno tune so would the 85mm help then. thanks for any help.

Unless you are planning on going with a forged bottom end I would stick with stage 1 cams. The Stage 2s require valvesprings, so you lose what little you gain with the more agressive camshafts, and the stage 2s are setup for reving past the safe point on the stock bottom end. I wish i could do it all over and just save my money and not do the camswap. I would have been alot better off putting it in a account and getting a blower a few months later.

i thought about the blower, but i heard a 01 gt with crower cams the other day and i loved the way it sounded while it was idling. will the stage ones give it a rougher idle.

I love the way my car sounds, and nobody around here can believe I changed the cams until I start it (hell, there isnt a supercharged GT within 2 hours of here I THINK), but i really didn't realise the power gains I wanted. I defeinatly woulda been better off with stage 1s, I think I woulda dropped peak off just a bit, but gained more in the overall curve.
