It can be done safely without tuning. Just make sure you install a fuel pressure cut-off switch. That way if for some reason you can’t inject enough fuel with your nitrous jetting it will shut the system down and avoid a lean condition.

Huh... that is weird because the Title says 99-04... This is the kit i bought and used it to install my kit.

you will obviously see a bigger power gain with a tune, especially since a tune on 93 octane will give you a small boost by itself, not to mention itll probably smooth out your powerband a bit. although it could have just been my car, I had a weird lag/drop in power between 3.5k and 4k rpms where it would seem to pick up again. after a tune (all boltons/NA) everything was very smoooooth and pulled better up top.

Plus, it depends on what type of kit youre getting. Wet kits are usually safer as they add more fuel along with the giggle gas to avoid detonation. I'd be VERY weary of running a 100 dry shot untuned.

other benefits to getting a solid tune, especially from stock are most people will gain a few MPG, given they dont beat the **** out of their car.
also if your car is an auto, a tuner like the XCAL2 or sniper software can help firm up your shifts and shift points, which makes owning an auto not so dull

I used to have a SCT canned tune from VMP and while it was nice, it wasnt that great. Me being auto too... I then got a dyno tune and gained 16 RWHP and 48 ftlbs of torque. I would never get a hand held again. A dyno tune is not only safer to get for nitrous, but will free up tons of power N/A. But he asked if its ok to run 50-100 shot untunned and the answer is yes if its wet. There will be no problems.

and did you say "if its wet" at first?

not to nit-pick, but vague advice could put someone in the market for a new shortblock before they wanted.
