just got a rebuilt tremec 3650 and when i put it in 5t gear it kind of makes a grinding/scratching/whining noise....the noise is pretty noticable when im doing around 50mph but the faster i go the more it goes away (probly cause my exhaust gets louder). is this common? my old trans made some kind of noise in 5th also but that trans was really messed up. also just got a new clutch and im still breaking it in. and my car has 373s if that helps.

I also just put in a rebuilt 3650 from theDrivenman.com (700 hp rating) and it also makes a light grinding noise in 5th gear. Its also there in other gears but much less. I only have 200 miles on it right now so I am hoping its a break in issue.

I just had my car in the dealership I work for. My Jma Warranty got me a brand new tremec tranny and I put in a new ford racing clutch while the trans was out. The tsb for the rebuild of the 3650's says that after the rebuild the trans needs at least 500 miles or more to feel normal again. My 5th gear is noisey as well especially with the center boot off. I even have a slight click in 3rd and 4th when shifting its normal. Mine is starting to go away and Im coming up on 250 miles with the new stuff.

ditto my 5th gear also makes that noise at slow speeds, sounds like a Tremec lol.

mine is trans number 2.... every gear makes all kinds of noise's.... but dammit if it doesnt work just fine.... just let it go
