i cant decide whether to do it at my shop for around 200 or in my garage with power tools and ramps and stands and take my time.

Not meaning to jack the thread, but when you guys are saying "lift the engine" are you just taking out the motor mount bolts and jacking it up from the bottom or using a hoist from the top? You don't jack it up on the oil pan do ya?

i jacked it up on the oil pan when i put my k-member in... didnt have a problem at all... would really have prefered to use the brace though. if i had one...

i have always just put the jack under the oil pan.
just be gentle as you go up slowly and you will be fine

Back to the topic. did anyone snap any bolts off the studs or run into a different problem.

Nope I had no problems at all, just time consuming. Did you upgrade to locking header bolts?
