Ok That makes sense when the car is cold but after its warm it will still hang at around 1800 when you depress the clutch while coming to a stop. But I'll try the engine coolant sensor and engine temperature switch. Thanks

Don't buy parts unless you have an idea what the problem is. For example, don't go and spend $10 on the temperature switch sensor until you test it: Unplug the cable from the sensor embedded in the manifold (don't unscrew it!!), and keep the engine running. See if you hear the same oscillation of 400 to 1000 rpms then. If you do, that's the problem, get a new sensor. If the engine's tune changes, the rpms drop dramatically and the fan turns on to high, then it's not--the sensor's fine.
That's what I mean about troubleshooting. Do similar tests for air intake system, throttle body, throttle cable, etc. Use your imagination. You'll get it.
Cheers,
Gaspar

My mustang is automatic, when its in park or especially when i put it into drive and let off the brakes, it idles rough, could this be due to the IAC as well.

I was having this problem with the stalling and it turned out to be a dirty crank sensor. I had a Steeda timing adv. sprocket which has the crank sensor reading on the outside of the crank pulley all I had to do is clean off the sensor and put it back where it was meant to go. So for all of you that looked at the IAC noe look at your crank sensor

ok here's one for you guys hopefully you can help. i was driving my car the other night and it died on me so i put it in park and start it back up. well i drive a little longer and the car dies under braking going to a stop sign. this was saturday and since then the car hasnt started again. i've changed the fuel pump because we could not here it running when we turn the car to the on position. i've also changed the CCRM in the front fender. $300 in parts and still no where on the car. i've had the stalling problems for a couple of months never thought to check the IAC but now im not sure if that is even the problem considering the car will not fire at all. just wondering if you guys might have any idea what the problem might be. by the way i've checked the shut off switch in the trunk and checked the fuses as well.

As for the price, it's about $30 at AutoZone or Discount Auto Parts. Before you replace it, do as we said countless times on this thread: Flush it with carb cleaner and WD 40. Clean it well first, before you spend money on another IAC.
