Lightbulb Engine size

Can You put a larger engine in a sn95 mustang body. Will it cause computer problems and what will fit. Is this a bad idea and would I be able to put my procharger on a different engine. Thanks

I'm not sure what all is involved, but i've seen it done...302's, 351's, etc. What size motor do you want to put in?

A 302 or 351 will definitely fit no prob, just use an EEC-V ecu I think, if you're going to go fuel injected. Not sure about anything bigger unless it's based on one of those two blocks without some creative engineering.

351 would be good. Could i use my procharger with that engine. I am debating putting in a new motor or forging out what i have. I want to build a baddass street stang with about 650 to 750 hp. I am looking for the best wat to do it. can i get 650 hp on a 4.6 with procharger p1sc.

I've seen a few 302 strokers with around 20lbs. of boost or so throw down in the 600 hp range.

Personally I think you'll be pushing it with a P1SC to hit those numbers. I believe some of the SSO guys are running 351 blocks that have been punched out to 409. You can the head unit as long as you can get a bracket for the engine and it not interfere with anything in the engine bay. I'm sure some custom work could be done if you really wanted. Personally I'd think about an F1a for that power range, maybe a bit larger depending on what motor you decide to go with. You can probably get into mid 600s with a D1SC, but with a bigger blower, you'll be able to use a bigger pulley and not worry about belt slipping, or use a cog drive. I think MMFF has a LX fox street car they put an F1R on.

edit: btw, I don't know about the computer stuff, but I believe you'll have to get a different K member for a pushrod based engine. UPR has them for the swap I believe.

650whp isnt going to happen with a p1sc, youll have to step up to d or f series. you can def get in to that hp, but u will have to spend cash. to get a 302/351 base engine in to the sn95 chassis youll need the k member from a 94/95 gt, those came with a 302. if you already have a p1sc and want to put it on a 302/351 block you will have to contact procharger about getting a different mounting bracket and piping if you dont plan on making your own. all depends on how much u want to spend, the cost of building a 4.6 up or swapping and building up a 302/351 engine.

A 351w swap is going to take a lot of time and money. It isn't something that you can buy and swap over all the parts from your car now over to the 351. Your looking at new heads, cam, intake, ignition, new k-member, a-arm, transmission, driveshaft, buying new internals and if you want to run EFI add a few more dollars to your budget. Same with a 302. You could buy a 5.4L and swap over all your parts. But for it to be worth it you would still need new heads, cams, intake, injectors etc etc. Then with all that power your going to need a built rear, sticky tires and suspension to handle the power.

Here is a thread of a guy on here swapping out his 4.6 for a 351w.

I hope you realize it isn't going to be cheap to make a 650hp car, but I'm sure you knew that already. Good luck!

P.S. If you wanted to, you could fit a BBF 460 in your car.
