Default timing chain question (trying to reassemble motor)

Ok so as I said before I had a timing chain guide on the driver side of the motor that got broken while putting the cams in. So, long story short I finally got the correct part after two weeks of failed attempts. I took out the old one and installed the new one today and put the bolts in at about 85 inch pounds. I did this without removing the timing chain but with the front cover off of course. The part of the chain that goes under the top tensioner arm is good and tight and the chain on the cam gear seems good and tight. But where the chain runs along that bottom guide it's loose and I can move it back and forth. It didn't come off the crank or anything. How do I get the tension back in that chain without removing the chain and stuff? Or is it normal and will it just correct it self on startup? I don't want to risk the chain coming loose when I start the car lol. Any advice?

Pretty sure that is normal. Mine did it on the 2v and once the tensioner got pumped up, the slack was gone.

Ugh I hate when my posts get moved here because hardly anyone reads this part of the boards. Well I am putting the car back together today I guess so any last tips on my situation would be great so I don't break any thing!

Yep, its normal homie. Kind of a strange feeling seeing it slack there but its right.

Did you take both chains off or just one? I don't recall your threads or why you took everything apart.

Hell of a learning experience though that's for sure. I replaced the passenger side head on my own. Don't wanna do it again, but I learned more doing that than I have in 5 years on the forums.

lol I just did a cam swap. Learning experience is an understatement lol. I figure it out...After turning the crank pulley a bit the slack went away
