Question Service Engine Soon Appears But No Codes?

I own a 2000 Mustang GT Vert with about 54,000 miles. The other night, I drove about 2 miles to the freeway. After about a mile on the freeway the Service Engine Soon light goes on and after a couple seconds goes off. Worried about it, I pull over and shut off the engine. I wait a little, restart and let it idle for a bit to make sure that the light doesn't go on again. It doesn't, so I get back on the freeway. However, the light goes on again and goes off again after a couple of seconds. It happens about 6 times over that first 10 miles and then is fine for another 20 miles. I checked the gas cap afterward and it was screwed on properly.

The next day I take the car to AAMCO to check the OBD codes. The technician tells me that there are no error codes!

Has this happened to anyone before? Does anyone want to speculate what it could be? Should I take it to another mechanic? I have never changed the spark plugs, could that be the problem? I need to get the car smogged because I plan to sell it, so I need to know whether this is something that I should try to fix beforehand. I've only driven the car once since the incident and only a short distance and the SES light did not come on.

Thanks in advance!

You need to find a shop that can read the pending codes (some scan tools cannot) and the freeze frame data. The latter is a capture of the system status when the SES was last illuminated.
