Default Earl's swivel hose end leak??

I have a custom fuel system and the weirdest thing happened last week. Went to fire up the Stang and let it idle for bit and went to pull out of the garage and had a small puddle of fuel under the car. Immediately shut it down and popped the hood and noticed the leak was coming from the swivel hose that goes from the fuel line to the rail. Checked fitting/hose and was tight so let it sit over nite and tried to start it the next day to confirm it was the swivel end to no avail?? Just went ahead and replaced the swivel end with a new one and seems to be ok/no leak! Very strange but have heard Earl's fittings have been known to leak.

I've always had this weird feeling about using swivel hose ends regarless of brands, my dad always had problems with them on his 1970.

Maybe it has a dinger or something on one of the inside flares or something (not sure what they look like ripped open) and it swiveled at that right angle to let the fuel out of it? Who knows I would of replaced it as well.
