18 inch rims on the gt
I was wondering about putting 18s on my 2004 gt but i have a few questions. will this slow my car down cause the wheels are so much bigger? if i drop the car 1.4 in the front and 1.3 in the back will the tires hit the wheel wells? thanks for the help in advance.

You can put 18's on your GT and you won't effect anything. Just get your tires the same height. And no you will not need bigger rims for rotors unless they say so. It is possible you will need bigger calipers though.

You already have 17's, so 18's aren't going to be that much bigger. Like blueangel said, just make sure the overall diameter of the tire/rim is the same and your speedometer won't be off.
Lowering the car that much (or little) won't cause the tires to rub on the wheel well. These cars sit like a monster truck.

Well, technically that's true.
But in this case, it's all about traction: Sidewall flex.
This is why 15" wheels are used a lot. Not SOLELY for their lightweight, but so that the tire, with the same OVERALL height, has a much thicker sidewall in order to allow for greater flex, and traction.
