Default Has anyone done a cobra motor swap in their gt?

Ok so I've been changing my mind a lot about what I want to do to get power out of my car. I have seen cobra motors on ebay for $5-$6 grand and with forged internals its a let better than spending $3-$5 grand to try and beef up my 2v na... Has anyone on this forums done the swap? How easy is it? Do I need a t56 or can I use the stock 5 speed? Thanks for the input!

I have a friend that has the terminator swap, Prob not too hard if you have right tools, I kno he spent a lot of time on it though. He has the six speed in his also. My personal opinion would be go ahead and get six speed tranny you will be glad you did in the long run

Depending on the power you want... if you're going to do a 4v swap for 5k, you might as well just sell your GT and buy a Cobra. Just my opinion.

Well id spend $8k on a cobra motor including install, and i could only get like $7k outa my car So thats $15k give or take vs a cobra which i cant find for under $22k. Also the motor im looking at has all new parts where the cobras in the lower End of the sPectrum have a ton of miles

You gotta ask yourself the question. How much power do I want? 5K can get you pretty far with a 2V, but in the long run probably won't make as much power as tuned 4V. Remember too that the 4V weighs a bit more than the 2V.

I sorta did it after blowing my stock motor, see my sig. for details. I am still running the stock 2 valve heads though. It cost me $7000 with labor. She should be ALMOST as stout as the Terminators motor. my tuner says if I get an intercooler, a smaller pulley, and a re-tune, I should be able to run around 500 rwhp. ( 590 hp X .85 = 501.5 rwhp ).
