damn she is a beauty! good catch bro! i personally don't agree w/ swapping the wheels. i love the distinct look of the Mach wheels, really makes it stand out and gives a bit of that nostalgic feel. but to each his own. the other mods should net you some good gains in the 1/4.

Don't do U/D's on a 4V...bad for them.

Do a search on that subject before you do if you REALLY want to.

Midpipe/catback, drop in air filter/CAI and a tune and you should be sitting at or over 300rwhp.

WTF? "bad for them" What internet hopla are we spreading now? I will say they are over hyped but bad for an engine I have a hard time believing. Unless you are referring to the piggy back style

i do like the original wheels, i just want some meats in the rear. however, i am a function over fashion person. performance mods will come first, and not any time too soon, as i want to learn the car and appreciate her as is for a while. i wont get wide tires unless i really need them for traction purposes. they make deep dish mach1 wheels dont they(im too lazy to search right now)?

and yes, i am curious as to how the udp's are bad for the engine?

I can keep going...I see it like SPEC clutches, I just had a new clutch put in and I researched SPEC. People's opinions with SPEC was 50% they suck and 50% they are fine...I went with a RAM HDX (still breaking in)

I'm with the many of not putting UD's on my car for the possibility of failure. Not to mention I would rather spend the $200 toward and Aluminum driveshaft or rear end gears.

good threads smitty. tbh, whether its bad or not, ill probably pass on the mod just to err on the safe side. you are correct, the 200 bucks could go elsewhere and be more effective.

so whats the word on todays programmers? a programmer is probably the first thing i will get. from what i remember, my diablo sport predator was a pretty good choice back in 04, i could tune just about everything i needed to.

Most people go with SCT...more widely used at dyno shops. I sold my Diablo and kept my brothers old married Xcal2 just for pulling codes.

Best bet is to buy a SCT handheld and have your car dyno tuned. Yes you can buy a handheld with premade tunes on it and may see benefits, but you will benefit MOST by an actual dyno tune.

im with ya. id much rather tune it myself based on dyno run. ive just started looking at mods and such again. ive been deep into my jeep for the past few years, so my muscle car part memories are old and rusty.
