Default Cobra Intake?

I has a 98GT and was wondering if the 96-98 cobra upper and lower intake will fit on my car. Is it a direct bolt on. If not what has to be changed? Will I need a dyno tune when this is done?

In order for it to fit you will have to put 4v heads on the car

I like your answers to these type of question 99 GT vert. Lol

In a nutshell no.

Put B heads, which are 32 valve, which require a different front cover and timing chain setup, and you could use it.

I assume you know what the intake ports on your head look like?

These are B heads:

Note how each head has 8 ports....your GT heads only have intake port per cylinder.

I don't have a picture of the heads from my junk 2v engine, but they are kinda like a boxed shaped teardrop? You could find a pic of them with a quick Google seach.

tl;dr version: not even close.

There you go, sorry to burst any bubble you may have had in regards to this :P.

Several of us on the forum have done the 4v swap. Most of us have used complete motors when we did the swap, which is probably almost as easy. There are alot of parts that you would need and yes you would need a dyno tune to get it running good. But if you just want to swap out from the heads on up and have it tuned that can certainly be done.To be honest my car is at 288 rwhp and 290 rwtq with a stock cobra engine so you wouldn't be gaining a lot from your current set up.The 4v is probably a better platform to build from but would cost more to build if you're getting aftermarket cams. Also some of the parts you would need are starting to get hard to find.If you are at all serious about this talk to uberstang,he is a fountain of knowledge on this swap.LOL

Na I didn't know I had to do the 4v heads for the cobra intake. So I'm probably not going to do it.

Do you have a thread on here that lists the basics for an idea of what it entails? I'm not ready to do it, but I'm debating motors and 4v conversions by mid summer - late summer. I would love to get a better idea of what I'm looking to get myself into.. especially what mod's I should postpone until after the swap Thanks!

Both BlackMage and myself have threads in the General Discussion area showing what all this swap entails. BlackMage's is a little more in depth, but either he or I could answer any question you have.....as well as uberstang1 although I don't think he has a thread about the topic.
