Default First Cobra... Let the mods begin

Hello everyone! I'm brand new to the forum. I just bought a 98' Cobra with 50,600 miles on it. I just want some advise on mods from you guys. I am looking into reaching the 420-460 HP range. I will list what mods I'm already going to buy, but I want to see what you guys can add to it, so I'm not missing out on obvious upgrades.
  • V3 Vortech kit non intercooled
  • SCT tuner
  • catted X pipe (can't decide on which brand)
  • Magnaflow magnapacks for the cats
  • steeda sway bar
  • Subframe braces

As far as a clutch, should I upgrade? or can the stock clutch handle 420-460HP? Please feel free to throw down your opinions! Thanks.

I would go with a centerforce stage 2 or 3 clutch or the ram powergrip. ( I don't like spec clutches) you may need to keep and eye on the tranny with that amount of power as the t-45 will break fast.

You are not missing really any upgrades but you should get a bigger throttle body for that power also. And probably some headers. For the most part you will be fine. But don't be surprised when your stock trans breaks. The tranny in your cobra is only rated to 350 ft lbs of tq.

Also that power will be pushing the limits of your internals of the motor. I would reccomend to get a tune around 400rwhp. Maybe a 12lb pulley at the absolute most on a stock motor. And get the intercooler. You will regret it if you don't. Makes your car run so much cooler and smoother. Nice car though. Throw up some pics we all want to see it

Awesome thanks for the help. So for the tranny, do you recommend a rebuild? Or do you think I will need to buy a stronger one? I'll have some pics up soon

I agree with Eddy, get the intercooler with the vortech. I ran without one for about 6 months and after i put mine on I could feel it running better.

To get 420rwp your probably gonna need abotu 10psi of boost, long tubes and a full exhaust. I really wouldn't take it higher than that, 460 your asking for a smashed rod.

For the tranny don't get a rebuild to factory t-45 specs. Build the tranny to world class tko specs. Or just swaP a tko600 in it or something.

I'd stay away from TKO, they have a horrible habit of not going into gear at high RPMs. I'd check out t45source for a built t45 or maybe a t56.
