Default Cam swap

Ok I want to get some pointers before I swap my cams. I wanted to know when I pull my old ones out is there anything I need to swap over to the new cam? I've heard about the cam spacer? Does my 98GT have this? Do I need to swap it over?

I was going to use the Anderson cam retention tool. Is there anything else that I need to know before getting myself into this? Also how do I rotate the engine a couple of times after the swap so I can see if it all clears well? Thanks.

you will need to reuse cam spacers and cam gears, buy new cam bolts. remove the spark plugs and turn the crank byy either a rubber band wrench or a rachet and socket on the balancer

Why would I need to get new bolts? Nick from modularheadshop told me I could reuse them. Also why can't I turn the crank with the spark plugs in?

I think your bolts will be fine as they are not TTY bolts. The reason you turn it over with the plugs out is that the engine will have no compression and will spin much easier thus allowing you to feel if anything is a rye.

you can use the old bolts but if youre going to put that much money and time in the cam swap, i would spend the extra money for peace of mind
