I agree. You should be getting way better mpg. Try basic maintenance. How's the air filter look? Has the fuel filter ever been replaced? Spark plugs? Clean your injectors. A tuner might help as well.

Someone may have said this, I didn't read far enough. But you have a 15 gallon fuel tank. If it only took 8 gallons from less than a 1/4 odds are your sending unit is reading improperly.

Try this. Fill up, drive 40 miles. Fill up again, you should have burnt about 2 gallons of fuel. That will give you a good idea whether or not this thing is really sucking down fuel like it's cool.

Mileage on mine sucks. I get as good with my truck, and it is a heavy 4x4. Back in the day I had a 90 GT 5.0 auto, and it got a lot better than my 04.

But I do agree with what Stevo said above... 8 gals should be just shy of 1/2. Try filling it up, driving a set number of miles, then fill up again... don't go guessing until you fill it back up as that should give you a better idea of how much gas you really did use.

+1
Have you cleaned the throttle body can get gummed up & really affect mileage.
When I had my gt , by 30k tb was covered in oil and some gunk.

Removed the by cleaned it up , car drove like a million bucks.

Gas mileage improved & no idle issues.

its some ****ty adapter. . .

ALSO, turns out all my tires were under 20psi.... one was even 12. So i aired them all up to ~35 that should help a lot on MPG.
