Default Missing on hard acceleration

Hey there,
So I have replaced the fuel filter and plugs. All the old plugs looked just consistently worn, nothing unusual. I am still getting missing on harder acceleration. I had it in cruise in 5th on a slight incline and had missing and CEL flashing, turned ignition off and on and it reset. No issues at idle or on easier acceleration. Does this sound like a coil?

It could be a coil; try connecting a scanner to check for misfire codes. If you can isolate the misfire to one cylinder, you could try swapping coils with another cylinder to see if the misfire follows the coil.

Thanks edwin108, that's what I was thinking. Just going out to get a scanner this morning. Any suggestions of what level/quality of scanner would be best? Do any of them get specific enough to Dx which cylinder it would be?

The cheapest scanner should be fine, you're only looking for misfire codes, etc. Check with your local auto parts store, you may be able to rent one.

Is your car an auto? If so, you can load the engine by putting it in drive, holding the brake pedal and revving the engine. If one of your coils is worn/getting weak, this should make it misfire (and set a code).

Default Fixed it!!

So after replacing my fuel filter, spark plugs and cleaning the EGR sensor it was a bad coil. I just replace all of the coils, figured they are probably all the same age/mileage might as well replace all. That fixed it!! She hauls in all gears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
