Default Ignition switch lock cylinder sticking

What's the best way to lubricate the lock cylinder? It sticks when cranking the car and I have to manually turn it back or the starter keeps running. Is this a sign of pending failure or does it just need to be lubed? The car hasn't been run in a month or so and it's got 192k on the clock so it could be tired.

Dry graphite powder is the best. Never use a liquid lube as it will attract dirt.

Mine does it some times when it gets hot and humid out.
I usually spray it with some silicon spray , it dries in seconds and is pretty slippery stuff.

Just put that down the key hole or should I take it out and lube it? Thanks for the suggestion!

If the problem is lubrication, then yes dry graphite is the way to go. However, if it is sticking due to metal shavings from the key being inserted/removed thousands of times, then you either need to replace it or give it a good cleaning. Here is a good video on how:

Buying my first 95 GT tomorrow. The ignition switch has to be turned back manually. Is it better to lube the cylinder or just replace it?

I would try the lube first since it is so easy...
