Default Trying to diagnose high-pitched whine

I just bought a 2001 Mustang about 1 week ago. Before purchasing the car, I had a mechanic go over it and made sure it had a clean bill of health. The car has 87,000 miles on it, as well as a cold air intake and a dual exhaust system added to it.

Today it started making a very high pitched continual whine as I drove it around. I attached a link to a video of the noise, after starting the car up, the noise starts about 30 seconds later and stays constant.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gawM...ature=youtu.be

The noise is only coming from the driver's side of the dash board. The engine it's self does not seem to be making the noise.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I am concerned it may be an issue with something inside the dashboard, but am unsure what to do at this point.

Thanks in advance!

Hey man. does that car have the mach460 sound system in it?
if so you might be getting feedback through that upper tweeter.
I would try and power down the radio (take the fuse out) and see if that does anything.

No- the radio is stock. But I'll still try powering down and radio and see if it helps. Also going to try removing then reconnecting the battery to see if it goes away.

The mach460 sound system came stock in alot of GTs. its just a bit more premium than the base model. it has more power at the rear speakers and tweeters up front.

Default Update- found the general cause

I figured out the general cause- the noise is coming from the AC unit.

I was checking out fuses, the battery connection and poking around more in the engine, and everything there checked out fine. Went to drive it, and the noise continued to drive me nuts, so I started fiddling with the ac/radio to try to at least drown it out for the drive. As soon as the AC know was turned on, BAM the noise vanished.

I played with it more, and every time the AC was shut off, the noise came back and instantly vanished when the AC was turned back on.

I'm thinking there may be an air leak somewhere in the car, or one of the fans is making the noise when it's turned off.

So, off to chase down this problem more.
