Default Tire question

I have 245/45/17's on the gt now. Will 235/55/17 work? They are on a different set of wheels. Will they be too tall to fit without causing any problems? Since it is a taller tire, how much will it affect my speedo? Any help appreciated. I'm looking for a little better ride quality, knowing that I'm losing some performance. Got a younger driver in it now so I am willing to sacrifice for now.
The tires I'm looking at are Pirelli nero zero

The factory size is 25.68 while the size you're looking at are 27.17, about a total if 1.5 difference and .75 closer to the fender. To be honest, if the car isn't lowered, they should work fine.
The mph on a factory rear gear in overdrive is 69.7mph with 25.68 tall tire and 73.8mph with a 27.17 tall tire at 2000 rpm's.

they will work, but as said the speedo will read wrong, I would personally stick to either the 245/45 or 275/40s for stock wheels

What's the ride response with those tires? Harsher?

on the same make and model tire, the difference would be minimum.

I've decided on new General Altimax HP instead of changing the tire size. I can't handle a different look to the ride. Hope these tires give me more than 20,000. Had Hankooks Ventus and they were absolutely awful.
