Default 4.6 2 valve vs 4 valve Q

Ok lets say that you have an 03 gt and a 03 mach 1, I know the mach has a aluminum block and the gt has an iron block . my Q is do they have different pistons and rods between the two because I have a friend that says he's runing 125hp shot of nitrous on his 04 mach 1 on a factory tune with no problems but I hear alot of people on here saying if I'm going to run 125hp shot on my 2v gt I should get a tune to be safe, is the mach 1 bottom end stronger then the gt's please explain?

Whats up wayne

The mach 1 and GT shortblocks are basically the same. The mach 1 has a higher compression ratio than the GT. You COULD run a 125 shot untuned on your car, but for the best results and the most saftey its best to run a tune with your shot.

In that case, your going to probably want to run a chip with a flip chip so you can turn the nitrous tune on and back off.

There are a few people running a 150 shot on their gt with a tune, I personally wouldnt.

BTW, the mach 1 manual transmission cars have a forged crank, the autos have the same cast one as ours. The weak point is the rods though, that or the pistons will go before the cast crank.

I would have an actual tuner set it up. You don't want to much timing or whatever with spray. Yea, manual Machs have forged cranks so they can spin higher, but not sure if it will hold up better or not to Nitrous.

What up scott , I think I can do the swicthable tuneswith my sct tuner but the flip chip sounds eazier. I figure I'll loss about 9 hp with the timing retarded but It'll be worth it to be safe!
