Bad bearing in 1998 cobra

Bad bearing in 1998 cobra
Last night I took the oilpan off and noticed that there were metal shavings in the bottom of the pan. I also found shavings in the oil filter. Would i have to totally rebuild the motor or just the bottom end? I dont know if the shavings reached the cylinders. I bought the car this way for $6000 with only 64,000 miles on it.
