I found the 315/35/18" on an 8" wheel:

I will head by the 295's car again this week and take another pic of different angles. I agree that it looks like fender rub, but seems to me the wheel was REALLY inset of fender as 8"s tend to be. Hell, I run 10.5"s with a 1/2" spacer on my ride. Of course I have some pretty serious fender rolling, but only accounts for 3/4" tops.

Just look at the clearance of tire to fender on the above and is wider than the 295's, hmmm....

Some oversize tires are OK, but that is a bit extreme. You can fit a 275/40 on stock rims without a doubt. My buddy has 285 nittos on stock bullits. Doesnt look bad at all. And no tire issues what so ever

i have a set of 285s on my stock wheels because i got the tires for 10 dollars each they haven't been driven for more than 10 feet though because i use them for winter wheels while the car is in storage. but my cousin has 315s on his 9 inch wheels and they are not to bad

Jazzer, how do you think a 295/35-18 would look on 9.5" wide rear tires??? Id like to go to 305 or 315 if i can but i think that might be stretching it as it looks almost perfect with 285's on it. This is in reference to the nitto NT05's cus thats the tire of choice come time to buy new tires. And i was also looking at their 295/45-18's but i thought that that might be a really tall tire. Id like it just for the extra sidewall but if it would be too big, id be willing to go with the 35.

teej.... I think a 275 is a bit large for a 9" wheel, even though it is an approved width by manufacturers.

Now, a 295 is about 7/8" wider tire on a wheel that is only 1/2" wider than the 9". This means the tire will fit with increased bulge and be less than spectacular in the corner (somewhat subjective thinking here). I think a 275 Nitto would probably be a nice fit for a 9.5" wheel.

The issue in which to address is not only the "look" of the above pictured tires, but more the strain on sidewall caused by a poor fit and incorrect contact patch. The strain, I believe, is the cause of the cracks in sidewall of my first pic. Some have said fender contact and could be so I will sneak by and do a closer inspection soon. Either way, this stretched sidewall will lead to a premature failure of tire in the long run and sloppy handling in the short run. I think you are best to purchase the proper sized wheels for the tires you would like to run. I run 295/30's & 315/30's on 10"s & 11"s and consider this to be a very good fit. The Audi R8 runs a 295/30 on 11" wheel and has a taught side wall, but pretty responsive in the corners to be sure.

I would HIGHLY recommend you avoid the 295/45/18" tire on your ride! You are looking at a 28.4" diameter tire and WILL rub on articulation of rear axle. I would not go past a 35 series in such a width and not go such a width without a 10" wheel.

his sidewall is going to fail....my tire had a slow leak, ide fill it up every few days.... but the stress from running low on air and bulging out like that from the weight of the truck ruined my sidewall... sidewall gave out at 80mph on the freeway... ruined my wheel also as it went sliding down the freeway

you **** up the sidewall and its no good.....why would anyone ever run a tire that size on that wheel?
