T45 rebuild
I was wondering if it is possible to do in a basic garage with basic tools? I need to replace my syncos and maybe some bearings, but I dont want to get it apart only to find out that I need a few special tools from ford that cost as much as my parts... Has anyone done it and ran into any snags?
I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty by any means, I have installed LT's by dropping the k-member along with a pi swap so i know the car pretty well.

Don't quote me on this, but a friend of mind works at a small dealer in town as a mechanic and he rebuilt his t45 for his 97 cobra and I beleive basic tools god the job done with the exception that there is a special puller needed to remove the gears and obviously a shop press to install some of the internal parts. I do knowo when i started ripping the tranny down and finding some of the gears and everything chewed up a bit, by the time he got dont buying all the parts he was at the same price it would of cost to just buy a reman. t-45.

good to know, thanks! My t45 is in rough shape... Ive been kicking the idea of selling it, but I think Im going to keep it fr a while, so i figured Id fix the transmission. If I had more money to put into it, id swap in a t56 and be done with it. but i dont know...
The kit I found for a master rebuild kit was about 350 dollars. I'll price out a few transmission place around me and see how bad it would be to get it fixed there.
