99 cobra, loud belt squeal starts at 1,600 rpm.. HELP!
Ok, I bought this 99 mustang cobra convertible about 3 weeks ago. So far I am really enjoying it, except tonight on the way home from work I realized I could use the cell phone mount to hold my cell (droid incredible) to record in HQ! So I mounted it up, launched at 2k, redlined and power shifted 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, letting up at redline in 3rd. When I let off, all of a sudden the belt was squealing REALLY loud! It will only go away if I go down to idle, and then drive under 1,600 rpm. The higher the rpm, the higher pitch and louder it gets. Its VERY loud at 2,000 rpm and up.
The car only has 42,000 miles on it, and the previous owner had mentioned that it had a squeal awhile back so he had just put on a new Gates racing belt, a better aftermarket tensioner, and some new STOCK pulleys.
Any ideas?
I am stumped. I of course looked at everything while it was running and with engine off. Nothing is standing out. Belt looks good.
Thanks in advance for your help!
