I thought we all had enough self control to keep the forums in line and on topic for the most part, but the repeating of the same quesions hs lot to do with the jokes..IMMFO

You may be partly right about what seem to be the same topic, but I can say from experience that I have searched a few topics and sometimes specific details or thoughts appear to be missing. "Re-opening" a previously discussed topic may be the most efficient way to get a question answered.

Those who are bored with a subject can simply chose to ignore the thread rather than begin attacking posters. That would be far more productive than attacking a member who is trying to understand a topic or get feedback on a question. The truth is that details and facts are often burried in long threads due to the sometimes extensive off track posts within a topic. This is probably even more true for newer members who have not seen all of the past threads in real time.

I agree that some joking is fun and can keep things from being too dry sometimes. There is a difference between jokes and attacks though. Also remember that it is VERY DIFFICULT to know the intended tone of a written comment, so it is important to think about what you have written before you hit send. Sometimes a "joke" can appear downright mean if interpreted wrong.

We are all human and thus we make mistakes, or regret having posted a comment after the fact. Sometimes it is as simple as saying so to reset the tone of a thread back on-track. We are in fact all grown men here, not children.
