Is there a way to have a shift boot on an automatic?
My old car was an automatic and I always thought the leather boot finished it off nicely, hate the naked look of the bare shifter.
I figure Id have to find a 5 speed bezel/shifter surround and a boot for a 5 speed...but Im unsure if it would fit right given the travel of the automatic shifter handle.

Yes you can use the shifter boot from a manual with your auto. I have done this with my car and I know a few other have also. It does give it a much nicer look.
You won't need a new bezel just a shifter boot. You'll need to take the handle off first which is held on by a little screw. If you put it in "1" you'll see the screw on the side facing the radio. Take that out and pull the handle off BUT be very careful not to pull so hard you break the OD wires out (you have to push in and hold the little button while pulling). Unscrew the shifter base. It should be 4 screws holding it in. Once that is off slide your new shifter boot on then put the handle back on and you're done.
Tbird on the board bought a new shifter handle which makes it look even better. Hope this helps.
