Hey guys i was just wondering if you could tell me how strong the automatic trans is (the one that comes out of the 2v gt i believe), i have a chance to purchase one to back a 4v engine im putting in my fox and wasnt sure if these transes were any good or not...

from what I understand, it's just heat/torque that breaks em.
Since it works by using clutches and not bands/gears, it's a little bit more durable
that doesn't mean that the clutches won't wear out after a while, but you won't be cracking anything

The 4r70W is the only transmission available in the Lincoln Mark VIII, which is a 4V motor. Plus I have seen those guys go with a blower on the stock tranny. Be safe and get a bigger tranny cooler, but it will last

WOW lol that is amazing to me, cause my fox trans went out when i just had bolt ons lol and i was maybe pushing 250! good to hear cause one of my buddies is selling one for a couple hundredwith 40,000 barley beat on

That's because the Fox uses the craptacular AODE transmission.

Fox used the AOD, AODE was used in the 94-95 mustang, and 4R70W/4R75W used in 96-04
And i think for the torque ratings, you have to take in account the multiplied torque by the torque converter, so I don't think it will handle 700 ft-lbs from the engine alone.
