500(b)HP?...whats bhp?
hello everyone , im new to this forum, and i am currently looking to get back into a mustang, i had a 89 foxbody (black w/grey kit) that car was fun to drive! quick and fast! then i purchased a dodge charger R/T a good car , but a disappointment in the fun factor catagory, i found myself missing the response and exhilaration of my mustang, everytime i hit the gas it would put a smirk on my face, not so with the charger, ive been looking at the gt500, about to make a purchase when i found out they have a KRedition and supersnake coming later this year so i am waiting for more info on these two ,however i am wondering whats bhp compared to regular horsepower ratings and does that mean if i get a gt500KR edition i wont really be getting 540 horses?? i know something is lost in the drivetrain, but i dont know how much....HELP!

welcome to the forum, you will really enjoy it here...
now about your question: bhp is
Average drivetrain loss is about ~15% on the high end for a manual. So if you were to get a KR with 540bhp you'd be looking at on the low end around 460 rwhp. Those cars can gain another 100rwhp with a pulley change and an intake though, so dont be discouraged.
HTH!
now about your question: bhp is
Brake horsepower (bhp) Brake horsepower (bhp) is the measure of an engine's horsepower without the loss in power caused by the gearbox, generator, differential, water pump, and other auxiliary components such as alternator, power steering, and AC compressor. Thus the prefix "brake" refers to where the power is measured: at the engine's output shaft, as on an engine dyno. The actual horsepower delivered to the driving wheels is less. An engine would have to be retested to obtain a rating in another system. The term "brake" refers to the original use of a band brake to measure torque during the test (which is multiplied by the engine RPM and a scaling constant to give horsepower).

AHH, really? sure doesnt feel like it,to answer your question, my fox body was bone stock, i didnt even change the intake on it, i feel the power of the R/T on the highway, but theres so much play between pushing the peddle down and the car actually taking off i feel like im beating on it, mustangs respond so much better that i think im ruined for other cars, but ive heard mustangs kind of run out of gas at higher speeds, theres nomore 'go' to it if you will, are there any mods i can do to remedy this? if its even true that is. sorry it takes me so long to get back, my schedule is a little crazy

Welcome to the forum. Just wanted to make sure you’re aware of the dealer markup on the GT500’s. The dealers are still getting $10K or more over sticker and the new KR will probably be even worse. If you’re just looking for a fun ride get a GT and throw a Whipple, KB, or a Turbo on it and you will be many dollars ahead.
