Borla Drone Eliminated
#11
+1 ^ I have the JBA shorties, MRT hi flo cats and the Borla touring axle backs. I think i actually have a little more drone with the hi flo cats than i did with the factory cats. I am thinking about switching out my mid pipes to get rid of the flat spots over the axle to see if that helps or not. I had a different car where doing that did actually help alot.

Oh ok. It probably won't though unfortunately. As long as the sound coming out of both mufflers is the same, it'll drone. My Bassani are higher pitched than most mufflers and they droned to no end before I got M80s welded in. M80's as resonators work great. So do the stock mufflers. Corsa apparently does too but OMG the price.

HF cats do nothing for drone IMO. I had them too. I cut them out and added another set of resonators.......cherry bomb glasspacks. LOL
With a blower, cams, long tubes, no cats H pipe, cherry bombs, pypes m80s(both mid mounted) and SSS axlebacks( borla copies) my tone is very deep and throaty. You can hear it through all the gears but its not a irritating drone sound. At WOT it screams. I tried putting on the stock mufflers and the car went totally quiet except when I was heavy on the throttle.
IMO the key with headers and no cats is mid mounted resonators and some sort of flow through type muffler out back. Forget the chamber ones especially if your FI.
