RE: Struts and Rear Stocks
when i researched shocks and struts, I saw many many complaints about bilsteins being bumpy as hell, which makes perfect sense because great handling sold axle cars have bumpy as hell ride, you can't have one without the other. control arms will also make you bumpier, but handle better, you don't get a cushion ride with good handling on these cars, they are not set up so that is physically possible. that's why adjustable shocks and struts exist. bilsteins claims they are self-adjusting, but that is meaningless because it means they made a compromise somewhere in order to have the shocks adjust, the shocks don't know when you want them to be stiff or soft, they can only react. shocks and struts are only one part of the equation when it comes to how smooth your car rides, you also need to worry about spring rates where again, you have to sacrifice the ride quality for handling.
now as for whether to go with some kyb adjustables versus tokico d-specs or something more expensive like that, it depends on whether you want to spend $700 on shocks and struts or closer to $300. if you are just driving around town, the kyb agx will be fine and you won't complain about the ride because it'll be much nicer than it is right now. I dunno about longevity, but kyb has a lifetime warranty. I don't really plan on keeping my car for another 100,000 miles, so I don't care if they last that long.
