Default 87 Mustang LX Tranny Question

Hey Guys,

Just bought an 87 Mustang lx 4 banger from my brother for $150.

It runs great but i was bringing it home and the trans just quit.

I have checked the fluid level and its fine, checked the color and its bright red.
Checked the shift linkage and its fine.

There is no movement at all in any gear even at redline.

As far as i know this car uses a A4LD trans (with removable bellhousing)... can someone tell me what years and engines are compatable?

Also, is it posible to bolt the bellhousing from an auto to a 5 speed?

I have a 5 speed here from another mustang that had the 2.3L in it also.

Any tips and tricks to make this auto work again or things to try at least.

Thanks, Gordon

More likely then not your TC has failed. The A4LD's are known for popping transmissions. Just swap the 5 speed in there, I made a write up for it in the tech section
