i have a big trans leak that looks like it's coming from where the belhousing bolts to the engine. it doesn't drip but pours out but only with the engine running. i'm assuming that i have to pull the tranny but hoping that i don't. any suggestions on a "quick fix". iv'e never had to pull a trans but will do so if necessary. is there a seal that commonly fails on 93, 4cyl, 4sp OD trannys?

If it not coming from the valve cover and running down the back of the engine, then you will have to pull the transmission to repair. Probably is your rear main seal. No quick fix that I know of.

Make sure the gasket is not bad and leaking down the back of the engine.

it's trans fluid not engine oil. which gasket? i'm hoping for a quick fix.

only leaks when car is cold and stationary which leads me to belive it is a seal .it leaks on the passenger side rear of the trans above the pan.it appears to be a round component held on with 3 internal hex bolts.what trans component is this so I know what seal to order
