Cowl Removal

Cowl Removal
Hi, new to the forum and looking for some info on how to remove the cowl on my '91 LX. As I was heading home the other day my hood came unlatched and flew up hitting the roof above the windshield. I found a good used hood but have damage the cowl that I can repair.
My problem is I can't figure out how to remove the cowl. Can't afford a body shop, so I hope someone here can tell me how the thing is removed.
Thanks in advance for any help I can get. JoJo

JoJo, sorry to hear about your misfortune, it really sucks, been there done that!
Unfortunately the cowl is not an easy item to remove or replace. It is welded into place so cutting it out and drilling out all the spot welds would be necessary. You can go to eBay and do a search for the cowl, there are a couple listed right now. This way you can get an idea of what you would be getting into.
Did the hood smash the whole cowl, or just the area near the hinges?

Thanks for the reply, man. Worst is a large dent on passenger side near the hinge, ad the driver side has a smaller dent near hinge; the body was dent and rust free before this. I'm a welder and painter but don't have the welding equipment to do this myself, so I I guess I'll have to start looking around for help.
