Bolt on carbed 5.0- how much power?
New member here. I have a '68 coupe that will be receiving a 1995 5.0. It has the stock bottom end and internals with the following mods: The engine was converted to carburation and enhanced with an Edelbrock Air Gap intake, Trick flow cam (not sure on the lift and duration specs though, but it is a street performance cam) and will have a carb around 600 CFM. In addition, I am going to have the stock heads ported and have larger valves installed. I have tri y headers and complete flowmaster exhaust for the car. Given this info how much power and torque should I expect from my engine? Any suggestions?

can't help on the power numbers but be careful with the increase in valve sizes as the stock pistons don't have valve reliefs big enough for any valve over 1.94 inch in size. I would measure the size and depth of the valve reliefs first before I got new bigger valves for the heads.

Ive heard bad things about a 302 in an older stang, I don't know why and don't see a problem but that's what Ive heard.... anyway that sounds pretty cool. A bigger carb woudln't hurt but with the stock heads maybe about 300 at the flywheel, a nice set of heads will make use of that air gap intake which rocks...

they look good in there...as for the carb it won't depend on tailor made adjustment..but the best thing is it's so easy to tune unlike the feul injection...try using a stub stack..you didn't say what carb your using...the holley will be more power and more adjustablity than the edelbroke, but the edelbroke works good out the box and isn't in need of adjustment when the weather changes

I personally dont like holley's i just prefer edelbrocks.
As far as the "BAD THINGS ABOUT 302's IN EARLY STANGS" is stupid. Its the same block!
Also a 600 CFM is more than enough for a 302 650 at the most anything over that and its overkill and take away power.
Also roundman his motor should have fly cut pistons from the factory.Ill look it up to make sure but i think after a certain year they were standard. But some were even fly cut cast pistons.
