My tach has been acting funny since the day I got the car. I finally hooked it to a timing light that reads rpms, and it is reading exactly double the rpms on the tach as opposed to the actual tach reading. Any thoughts?

Mines doing that as well. It started after I finished the 4 cyl-5.0 swap. It did a complete circle yesterday[&:]

my car was always a V8, but I too saw a complete loop. I shut the motor down with the tach reading 5k, and when I turned the key back to on, it cycled clockwise and came to rest at 0. Very weird... i might order one of the 140mph complete clusters. My only fear is that the problem is not the tach, but something else. But what could it be?
