I agree, I definitely care about how my car looks. I honestly think its worth a few extra grand for a perfect paint job if you really care about your car's looks and plan on keeping it a while.

Black/red are the most difficult colors to lay down....body work and prep are beyond a doubt critical in making the car look good. Rushing the job or half assing it will result in what I call a 'wrinkle car' and by that I mean it litterally will look wrinkled as you look down the side. A color change..especially to black should cost no less than 4-5 thousand to be done DECENT..not show but decent simply because of all the additional work to remove molding etc, prep and finish every area of the car. Anyone who quotes less than 4 bills is not someone I would want working on the car...they are going to cut too many corners. In that price you should have a wet sand included..not wetsanding black or red will leave extensive orange peal that will seriously detract from the beauty of a solid dark colored car. The more flat the surface the more mirror like the reflection..getting a 'flat' surface takes time, effort and quality workmanship....shortcuts will always show in a big way.

+1 go fast is great and all and i cant get enough of it... but a POS rust buck doesnt appel to me.... i like a nice shiny on my cars.... u have to look go going fast.... other wise going fast just isnt as fun... around here a proffensional shop charges 5grand for the hole car... thats everything... stripped preped pimed all taht good stuff... then high quaitly paint... normal3-5 layer base coat and a 3 layer clear coat... ive seen i of this guys cars... good god almighty... if the light hits it just rite and u dont have sunglasses on ull be seeing spots for days... that son of a gun ****s like no other... its black and good god is it sweet.... i dont have 5000 grand rite now tho... and my prior own painted with a 3 layer clear coat newayz... he did a pretty good job... aint show quality... but its pretty nice... mine would have been about a 3grand paint job.... i of course didnt pay that since i bout it after he painted

My car is at maaco right now. I had them paint it a couple of weeks ago. I had to send it back to them because there were little pits all through out the car. They also left some masking tape on the inside of the hatch that was visible. Other than the pits the paint looked good though. But they are sticking to their word, the car is up there right now being completly sanded back down and shot again i get the car back on tues. and it better be smooth as glass or somebody is gettin an a$$whoopin[:@]

jrhaden, I ended up taking mine back 3 times to Maaco and they had my car for almost a whole month. I like the paint job but there were some other problems that I had with the job they did. When I took it back(a fourth time)and pointed out what they missed there excuse was that they didn't promise a perfect job. I said WHAAT!! I payed you guys like almost $2,000 and your telling me I'm not getting a perfect job?!? *uck you guys. Then I asked what my 5 year warranty covers( I got the best paint job they had with the 5 year warranty) they told me it only covers the"GLOSSINESS OF THE PAINT" and nothing else. Not the sanding , not the pits, not even the blue streaks that are on the orange stripes. In my other post I said that I liked the paint job they did and I do BUT that was before I took it back 4 times and had to deal with there bull*hit!! Just please make sure that everything thats getting done with your car is to your satisfaction before you pay them a dime!!! I wish I would've--Oh well you live and learn!
