Default 5.8L dropped motor mounts

I have searched and searched. I know I read somewhere about dropped (lowered) motor mounts you could use for installing a 5.8L in a Fox w/o the need for a cowl hood.....or was I dreaming??

Converts are stronger, yes, but they don't drop any. HPM makes a set, it'll lower the engine 3/4". You will need a specific oil pan though, or you will run into clearance issues with your k member.

Your dreaming on getting a 5.8L to fit under stock hood.
I know people say they do it, but I had to use a 4" hood to clear my intake and TB

www.50resto.com sells the HP Motorsports drop mounts, watch for clearance problems with the steering rack and sway bar if you
try and use them

Here

good luck

You know better...
I am running the stock hood on my 408w.
but then... I always was a dreamer

From what I have gathered...
There are 2 styles of factory motor mounts.
An early 'captured' design, which was originally used on the 'vert. This is slightly lower.
An early standard design which was used on the early hatch and coupe.
All later Mustangs used the early 'captured' design.

The makers of aftermarket motor mounts mimic one design or the other.

I have more details on my site in the 351w swap writeup.

I used the captured design mounts, and had to trim ~.7" off the upper intake, but it does clear. Barely.
