Default Governor and Cluster Questi

My first question... the governor on a 1995 5.0 GT. How does it work? Is it an actual top speed limiter or is it like the cobra where it has an RPM cut off. I just got my 347 broken in and its supposed to make 400-425 rwhp. Well just for fun I decided to get on it the other night and ended up blowing 3rd gear in the stock tranny(no I didn't miss a shift, it happened while in gear) This isnt really a problem I already have another tranny on the way. I want to remove the governor before this dog-ring tranny comes in so all I have to do is put it in and head over to my friend's dyno machine. Not that I need to but I don't like restriction, so yea. Second question: The 160mph Cobra cluster... Will it work without all that recalibration nonsense, in other words, can I just swap the cluster in easy? Thanks.

It is in your computer. i would get a chip burner to fit your car so you can get its potential out of it. no the cluster will not work with out being flashed(recalibrated)

Dammit, thats the only way? I don't feel like wasting my money on a useless chip just to remove a governor :/ Theres not much else I'd gain from it except 2-3 horsepower for timing and i mean come on... $300+ for 2-3hp? SCORE!!!!.....N
