oil coolers

RE: oil coolers
Oil temps should be around 220F to 250F.
You should stay out of the throttle until around 180F.
If your temps are going over 250F for a noticeable duration, then an oil cooler is advisable.
However, if the temps never get above 180F (or so), then you will start to lose hp and efficiency. Maybe not a noticeable amount, but there will be a loss.
Synthetic oils can handle much more temperature than dino oils. Syn. will also run a little cooler.
A better option may be to run a synthetic oil, versus getting a cooler.
I don't recommend installing an oil cooler until you have a decent temp gauge on the oil. This way you can tell if you need it, and if the cooler is working properly.
