think i read this somewhere else on the forum but do you have an offroad x/h pipe and still running the smog pump? the air still being pumped into the back of the cylinder heads causes it to backfire. maybe someone can back me up on this?

I do not have a maf yet, but I can look into the tps voltage, what about the timing, or possible beinga tooth off. btw, it happens aroung 4500 rpms, but not all the time.

If I can reacll, the CAI , offroad exhaust and tune were just not corresponding at 4400rpm-4,700 rpm
removed the chip and it never happened again. Tuning takes some practice and its not perfect at all times, so you have to kinda error and trial. Mine took 6 hours and two days at the shop , some sooner. Best $500 I ever spent
- TPS can have a flat spot and do this as well. Check the voltage and makes sure its goes up smoothly as you go to WOT, car off key on, if it glitches, or fluctates, toss it.
*timing wise, no , wouldnt look there yet unless your retarded to like 4 or 6 degrees, id have it at 10 min.
-Carbon, through the EGR channels and on heads can also do this, Diamond Chrysler Dealerships have a Can OF Combustion Chamber Cleaner(THATS THE NAME), spray it in the throttle body, remove the plugs, spray it in the holes, and reinstall.
This was specifically designed by thier engineers to fight off the 4.0 carbon issues that caused misses and valve issues and sent them hurting on warranty claims for engine rebuilds.
The stuff sits two hours, and foams up, turning all the carbon into a non corrosive light colored thin liquid.
This is not your parts store Sea Foam , cost $25-$30 for one can and will treat two v-12 engines.
When you start your car, floor it and look out for the Fire Department
